Tesla boosts production at its Gigafactory in Berlin, Germany

Tesla

According to a new report, Tesla has decided to boost capacity at its Gigafactory near Berlin in Germany until the end of the year, and churn out even more cars. Now, this may seem odd given that the brand's sales in Germany have nosedived in recent times, but there is method to the madness.

The reason for the production boost obviously isn't connected to the German market itself. Instead, Tesla's move is driven by rising global sales.

Here's what Tesla's German production chief André Thierig said about the matter: "We currently have very good sales figures and have therefore revised our production plans for the third and fourth quarters upwards".

Tesla's Berlin Gigafactory supplies over 37 global markets, including Europe, the Middle East, and Taiwan. And while Europe has seen a ton of anti-Tesla sentiment lately, the rest of the world seems less impacted by politics.

In Germany itself, Tesla sales dropped by a whopping 57.8% in the first seven months of this year compared to 2024. And across the EU, sales fell 40% in July, despite the launch of the new Model Y in March.
