XPeng Announcement

XPeng just shared some big news about its future. The company plans to launch the 2026 P7+ in 36 different countries. XPeng updated the car with 104 different improvements and a fresh design. One of the most interesting parts of this update is that the car will come in two versions. Drivers can choose between a standard battery version and a version that uses a small gas engine to help charge the battery on the go.

XPeng claims the Extended Range EV model will have the longest electric-only driving range for any sedan of its kind in the world. When using only the battery, it can travel up to 267 miles. If you use both the battery and the gas engine together, the car can go as far as 963 miles before needing more fuel or a charge.

The standard electric cars in this lineup are also getting some impressive tech. These models will use an 800V system. This system allows for very fast charging, and XPeng says the best version of the car uses 5C charging. This means it can charge from 30% to 80% in just 12 minutes. For the other versions, it takes about 20 minutes to reach that same level. We have reviewed the P7+, and you can read about it right here.

Looking at the size, the 2026 XPeng P7+ is a large and comfortable sedan. The car measures 16.63 ft long, 6.33 ft wide, and 4.95 ft tall. It has a long wheelbase of 9.84 ft, which usually means there is plenty of legroom inside. The new version is actually 0.59 inches longer than the older electric model. It weighs about 4,762 lb. Even though it is a big car, it is designed to slice through the wind easily. It has a drag coefficient of 0.206 Cd, which helps it stay efficient and quiet while driving.

Under the hood of the range-extended version, you will find a 1.5-liter engine. This engine acts like a portable power station to charge the battery and produces 110 kW, which is about 148 horsepower. The driving power comes from an electric motor that gives the car 180 kW. All models in this series use rear-wheel drive. Depending on which battery you choose - 60.7 kWh, 76.3 kWh, or 74.9 kWh - the driving range varies between 382 miles and 450 miles on a full charge. The car can reach a top speed of 124 mph.

The P7+ has already been a very popular choice for many drivers. Since it launched, more than 88,000 people have bought one. It has been the top-selling car in its category for a whole year. Prices for the current models stay between RMB 186,800 and RMB 208,800 - that is roughly $26,100 to $29,700. With its large trunk that can grow from 25.6 ft³ to 78.4 ft³, it is a practical choice for families.
