Nissan has now surpassed 1 million EV sales globally. It took the carmaker some 13 years, since embarking on its EV journey with the Leaf back in 2010.
Since then, Nissan launched the much-anticipated Ariya crossover and just recently the Sakura kei car for the Japanese market. Nissan has already racked up some 50,000 orders for the Sakura and is having a tough time keeping up.

The figures break down pretty evenly between Nissan's key markets, with Europe the only one to stand out a bit.
| Cumulative EV sales by region | |
| Japan | 230,000 |
| North America | 210,000 |
| Europe | 320,000 |
| China | 230,000 |
| Other regions | 10,000 |
| Total | 1,000,000 |
