Nissan

Nissan finally decided to commit fully to the EV transition with a major push toward electric cars and hybrid technology. The company has revealed its future plans and a lineup of new and updated vehicles designed to attract a very wide range of drivers. The Japanese automaker plans to introduce a slew of models over the next two years, and although it is focusing on electric vehicles, it is not forgetting about hybrids, and improved gas-powered engines.

One of the most anticipated releases is the completely redesigned Nissan Leaf. Once a pioneering electric hatchback, the Leaf is transforming into a sleek, family-friendly crossover. This new generation promises better aerodynamics and a more advanced EV system thanks to Nissan's CMF-EV platform (the same platform as the Nissan Ariya), potentially boosting its range and efficiency. The all-new Leaf will ride on 19-inch wheels and will have a panoramic glass roof. North American buyers will get a NACS charging port, giving them access to the Tesla Supercharger network.

Nissan is also bringing back the Micra as a fully electric city car for European customers. Sharing its platform with the Renault 5 E-Tech, the Micra EV is going to be a far more compact package. The Micra will offer various battery and motor options, with the top-tier model expected to deliver up to 249 miles of range. Nissan is also looking into a high-performance Nismo version of the Micra, which will likely borrow the powerful powertrain from the Alpine A290.

The Nissan Juke is also getting an electric makeover, with a bold design inspired by the Hyper Punk concept. Scheduled for release in 2026, the Juke EV will feature sharp lines and angles, creating a distinctive look. It will share its EV technology with the Micra, meaning it will likely share the same battery and motor options. It is also possible that a Nismo version of the Juke could be created.

In North America, Nissan is focusing on expanding its EV and hybrid offerings. The new Leaf will debut in the US and Canada, joined by a plug-in hybrid version of the Rogue SUV. Nissan will also introduce a new generation of the Sentra sedan and a refreshed Pathfinder SUV. Infiniti, Nissan's luxury brand, will see updates to the QX60 and QX80 SUVs, as well as the introduction of the QX65 crossover coupe. Nissan also plans to begin production of an adventure-focused EV SUV in Mississippi in late 2027, followed by a luxury Infiniti EV SUV in 2028.

In Europe, Nissan will launch the Micra EV, the new Leaf, and a Qashqai with the latest e-POWER hybrid technology. The Juke EV will follow in 2026, completing Nissan's lineup of four locally produced electric models.

They should also launch Sakura EV in other markets. Nissan is always 5 years late in doing things with EVs.
