Onvo

Nio's second brand Onvo just unveiled its L90 electric SUV, a vehicle designed to take on China's busy EV market. Set to hit showrooms in the third quarter of 2025, the L90 is a large family SUV that blends an upmarket design with advanced technology and a spacious interior.

The Onvo L90 sports a modern, bold look. It features a squared-off shape, a smooth front end without a traditional grille, and sleek, split-level LED headlights. Black trim and door handles that sit flush with the body give the L90 a clean and aerodynamic profile. Around the back, the "ONVO" name is proudly displayed with pixel-style taillights and high-mounted brake light, adding to its high-tech appearance.

The SUV sits on large 21-inch multi-spoke wheels, giving it a commanding presence on the road. The Onvo L90 measures 202.6 inches long, 78.7 inches wide, and 69.5 inches high, with a wheelbase of 122.4 inches. That's way bigger than the Audi Q6 e-tron (+37.5 cm) and even bigger than the BMW iX (+18 cm). It even has a 8.5 ft³ front trunk, big enough for two standard suitcases.

Inside, the L90 continues Onvo's straightforward design philosophy but adds some nice touches. The dashboard features extensive leather wrapping, elegant woodgrain accents, and chrome details. A floating central touchscreen, a large head-up display, and two 50-watt wireless phone chargers are included, making it clear this EV aims for convenience and connectivity.

Thoughtful hidden storage compartments and comfort features like a built-in refrigerator and an upgraded sound system cater to family needs. The L90 offers flexible seating arrangements for either six or seven passengers.

The Onvo L90 shares its powertrain with Nio's luxury ET9 model, known for its high performance. The rear-wheel-drive version of the L90 delivers 340 kilowatts (462 horsepower). For more power and grip, the dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup offers a combined 440 kilowatts (598 horsepower). Both versions are built on a 900-volt electrical system, which allows for fast DC charging.

Both versions of the L90 come standard with an 85 kWh battery pack. The rear-wheel-drive model offers a driving range of up to 376 miles on a single charge, based on CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) figures. The all-wheel-drive version, while more powerful, remains efficient, providing a range of 354 miles.

Onvo also focused on making the L90 lighter to improve both efficiency and handling. The vehicle weighs between 4,960 lb and 5,258 lb, depending on how it's configured. This lighter weight comes from smart design choices, such as a high-voltage wiring harness that is 50% lighter, hollow stabilizer bars that are 24.3% lighter, and integrated suspension parts that are 21.8% lighter.

Onvo users benefit from Nio's extensive charging network in China, which includes nearly 2,000 battery swap stations. These stations allow owners to quickly swap out a depleted battery for a fully charged one in minutes. Additionally, there are 2,438 branded chargers and more than 57,000 third-party charging points available.

The Onvo L90 is expected to be priced between RMB 220,000 and RMB 250,000, which is approximately $30,300 to $34,500. For an even more affordable option, Onvo will also offer a battery lease program, bringing the entry price below RMB 200,000, or about $27,600.
