At the beginning of this month, Skoda started teasing its Vision O concept, which will eventually be used as the starting point for the new electric Octavia.
Back then all the company showed were three images that seemed to be renders of sketches. Now, the brand has released a short (and we do mean short) teaser video too. Have a look:
The Vision O concept will be fully unveiled at the Munich car show in September. As you can see, it has an SUV/crossover silhouette because of course it does - no one wants hatchbacks or sedans anymore (at least that's what car makers seem to think, and it just so happens that this form factor solves the issue created by having the battery in the floor too).
The new electric Octavia, when it eventually appears in 2029 (no typo, unfortunately), will use the VW Group's SSP platform, which finally has an 800V system (that EVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 have been enjoying for years, but better late than never, right?).
As usual, the Octavia will be longer than the Golf - only in this case we're talking about the electric versions of both. If history is to fully repeat itself, then the Octavia should also be slightly cheaper while still offering both front-wheel-drive configurations with a single motor as well as all-wheel-drive options with two motors.
