Volvo's Charleston factory in the US kicks off EX90 SUV production

Volvo's factory just outside of Charleston, South Carolina, is now producing the company's premium all-electric SUV, the EX90. The first deliveries to customers will commence in the second half of this year.

The factory is home to the S60 ICE sedan as well and has been operational since 2018. That's why Volvo had to make additional investments to accommodate production lines for the EX90.

In its press release, Volvo says the body shop has been completely overhauled and the paint shop has been renewed and expanded. But perhaps more importantly, the factory has a battery production plant, a modern one at that.

The whole facility has the capacity to deliver 150,000 vehicles per year, if the demand is there.
