Xpeng Announcement

XPeng has unveiled its 2025 G9 all-electric SUV in China, with some significant upgrades to its popular model. The vehicle has a better range, comes with a next-generation AI driving system, and sports a refreshed design. The official pricing is yet to be announced, but the company has revealed a comprehensive list of improvements that will keep the car competitive.

The 2025 XPeng G9 keeps the overall design language of its predecessor, featuring the X Robot Face 3.0 aesthetic. Dimensions remain largely unchanged, measuring 192.6 inches in length, 76.3 inches in width, and 66.1 inches in height, with a wheelbase of 118 inches. Notable exterior updates include new soft-closing doors and tailgate, and 20-inch five-spoke rims. The new "black warrior" version offers a sleek, all-black aesthetic with darkened rims, logos, and fenders.

A key highlight of the 2025 G9 is the integration of XPeng's next-generation Turing AI intelligent driving system. The system operates without LiDAR, relying on a network of 26 sensors, including 11 cameras, three mmWave radars, and 12 ultrasonic radars. XPeng claims a 125% increase in visual perception distance and a 40% improvement in recognition speed compared to the previous generation, enabling more accurate detection of both moving and stationary obstacles.

Performance enhancements are evident in the upgraded powertrain. Both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) variants benefit from a 5C AI battery system, an 800V high-voltage SiC platform, and S5 liquid-cool supercharging technology. The RWD model now delivers a maximum power of 258 kW (346 hp) and a peak torque of 343 lb-ft, up from the previous 230 kW. The AWD variant adds a 165 kW (221 hp) front electric motor, resulting in a combined power of 423 kW (567 hp) and a peak torque of 513 lb-ft.

Battery options include 79 kWh and 93.1 kWh packs, providing CLTC cruising ranges of 388 miles, 423 miles, and 450 miles, respectively. This is an incremental improvement over the 2024 model's ranges of 354 miles, 404 miles, and 436 miles.

Inside, the 2025 G9 maintains its three-screen setup, with a 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel and dual 14.96-inch screens powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P. Interior color options come with interesting names: Morning Glory Brown, Elegant Gray, and a new Moon Shadow Coffee. Connectivity features include 5G network support, multi-screen linkage, cross-device connections, and over-the-air (OTA) updates.
