Zeekr

Zeekr, a subsidiary of the Geely Holding Group, is set to unveil its first-ever electric sedan, the Zeekr 007. The car will debut and go on pre-sale on on November 17, at the start of the Guangzhou auto show.

Zeekr 007 electric sedan will debut November 17

Zeekr's journey began in 2021 with the launch of its first model, the Zeekr 001, a shooting-brake-style SUV that sold 71,941 units in 2022 despite its substantial price tag. Following the 001, Zeekr introduced the Zeekr 009 MPV and the urban SUV Zeekr X, both unique in design and targeting specific market segments. However, the introduction of the Zeekr 007 sedan is a pivot towards a broader market, a move that could significantly boost Zeekr's market presence.

While specific details about the Zeekr 007 remain under wraps, the sedan is expected to feature LiDAR technology. That's giong to be a first for the company as Zeekr's current models, including the Zeekr 001, 009, and X, lack this technology. This incorporation of LiDAR typically used for enhanced autonomous driving capabilities, suggests that the Zeekr 007 is not just a leap into a new market segment but also a step forward in technological innovation.

Zeekr delivered a record 13,077 vehicles in October, posting a significant year-on-year increase. With ambitions to double its delivery to about 140,000 vehicles this year, Zeekr is eyeing an average of 24,000 vehicles per month in the final two months of this year. The Zeekr 007 is central to achieving this ambitious goal. By tapping into the Chinese sedan market, where monthly sales dwarf those of MPVs and SUVs, Zeekr could potentially see a dramatic rise in its overall sales.
