Dongfeng Motor introduced two new off-road EVs under the Mengshi brand. The two vehicles are named M-Terrain and M-Terrain S. The latter is a single-cabin pickup truck version. And even though the two are introduced as concepts, they are expected to hit the market sometime in 2023.

No matter which one you pick, you will be getting a big SUV measuring 5.2 m in length and tipping the scales at 3.5 tons. Compared to GMC's Hummer EV, for example, the Dongfeng contenders are just 30 cm shorter but also 600 kg lighter. Configurations would offer up to four motors capable of 1,070 hp output and 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 4.2 seconds.
A huge 140 kWh battery should be enough for about 500 km of autonomy, but the company plans to sell range extender variants as well. In this case, you will be getting a smaller 66 kWh battery, but the range extender itself will boost the maximum range to 800 km with a full fuel tank.

In addition to all that horsepower, the vehicles will boast rear-wheel steering for better maneuverability and off-road capabilities taking after the Hummer EV's Crab Walk feature. The air suspension can be adjusted to deliver a clearance suitable for the terrain.
As of now, the company has shared plans to release its vehicles only in China next year.
