Hyundai Announcement

Hyundai has unveiled a refreshed version of its Ioniq 6 electric sedan with a refreshed design. At the same time, the company teased the highly anticipated Ioniq 6 N, a performance-oriented variant promising serious power figures.

The biggest, and the most obvious change to the Ioniq 6 is its redesigned front. Hyundai went for a split headlight design, replacing the previous model's unique, but often criticized, lighting arrangement. Thin LED daytime running lights are now positioned above separate headlamps in the bumper, creating a sleeker and more modern look.

For EV buyers looking for a sportier aesthetic, Hyundai introduces the Ioniq 6 N Line. This trim level features a wider grille and larger air intakes, giving the EV a more dynamic presence. The rear of the Ioniq 6 also receives updates, including a new ducktail spoiler, and the secondary spoiler at the base of the rear window is now gone, resulting in a cleaner profile.

The refreshed Ioniq 6 sees subtle but significant improvements to its interior. A new three-spoke steering wheel, repositioned window switches, and additional USB ports improve the cabin's functionality and user experience. Hyundai has not released detailed technical specifications for the refreshed Ioniq 6, but the new design is clearly aimed to fix the vehicle's appeal.

The real excitement, however, surrounds the teased Ioniq 6 N. This performance variant, inspired by the RN22e concept, has a distinctive fixed rear wing and unique LED taillights. The official power figures have not been disclosed, but it is very likely the 6 N will use the same 650-hp dual-motor powertrain we know from the Ioniq 5 N. This would put the Ioniq 6 N squarely against the Tesla Model 3 Performance. The full reveal of the Ioniq 6 N is scheduled for July, promising more details on its performance capabilities and specifications.

The refresh should help keep the Ioniq 6 high up the EV popularity list, where it has been sitting since it was first unveiled in 2022. But it is the Ioniq 6 N that has our attention - the long-awaited and fastest four-door Hyundai ever is coming, and we can't wait one minute longer.
