MIIT filing reveals battery details of the refreshed Xiaomi SU7

Documents from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) reveal the work Xiaomi put into refreshing the SU7 electric sedan. The batteries are almost the same size as before, but the company found a way to squeeze a lot more distance out of every charge.

The revised Xiaomi SU7 lineup comes in three different flavors: Standard, Pro, and Max. The Standard version gets a 73 kWh battery, the Pro has a 96.3 kWh pack, and the Max features a 101.7 kWh battery. These battery sizes have hardly changed - the Pro battery only grew by 2.0 kWh, and the Max added a tiny 0.7 kWh. Surprisingly, the range numbers tell a much bigger story about how efficient the SU7 has become.

The standout performer is the Pro model. It can now travel 560 miles on a single charge, which is a big jump from the 516 miles it managed previously. That is a 45 miles increase without adding a massive, heavy battery. The Standard model now reaches 447 miles, and the high-performance Max version goes from 503 miles up to 519 miles.

Xiaomi says these gains come from a better powertrain. All models now use the V6s Plus electric motors. By focusing on how the car uses its energy rather than just building a bigger battery, Xiaomi is making its EVs lighter and smarter. The Standard and Pro versions now use a 752V high-voltage platform, a big step up from the older 400V system. The Max version goes even further with an 897V platform, putting it at the top of the industry for charging speeds.

Every new Xiaomi SU7 comes with LiDAR and 4D mmWave radar. These sensors help the car "see" its surroundings. A powerful flagship computer chip handles all this data, capable of performing 700 trillion operations per second. To keep everyone safe, the company also increased the airbag count from seven to nine.

If you see one on the street, you might notice the new "Capri Blue" paint. It uses special pigments to give it a deep, metallic look. The front of the car has a slightly different grille to hold the new radar sensors, though it keeps the famous "waterdrop" headlights. New 20-inch wheels with staggered setup (back tires are 265 mm and the front tires are 245 mm wide) and bright red brake calipers give the car a sporty look.

Inside the cabin, things have been cleaned up, too. There is a new "Dark Night Black" color option and a redesigned steering wheel. The dashboard and the panels on the doors have been updated with new stitching and a fresh layout.

Pre-orders have already started, and the SU7 is expected to officially hit the market in March, with the first models already arriving at the dealerships across the country. Prices start from RMB 229,900 ($32,800) for the Standard version, RMB 259,900 ($37,100) for the Pro, and RMB 309,900 ($44,300) for the top-of-the-line Max model.
