Audi is upgrading its EV bestseller, the Q4 e-tron, with a new motor that boosts power and efficiency, faster charging, and a tweaked interior with more optional features.
Audi Q4 e-tron and Q4 e-tron Sportback
The new model comes with a new naming convention, in line with the rest of the Audi EV lineup. You have the basic e-tron with a 63 kWh battery and the 150kW motor attached to the rear wheels. Above it is the performance edition with the familiar 82 kWh battery, but the new 210kW motor.
The quattro version adds AWD, but since it has the older motor at the rear the total power output is barely higher than the performance at 220kW. Finally, there's the quattro performance that goes up to 250kW, enabling a brisk 0-62 mph sprint time of 5.4s.
The new motor is about 10% more efficient than the older one, meaning that the performance version can extract 19 miles of extra WLTP range from the same 82 kWh battery, hitting 359 miles. The Sportback model, which has better aerodynamics, pushes that to 368 miles range. The quattro (AWD) variants also gain range - anything between 9 miles and 20 miles.
Notably, the higher-performance trims also get faster charging, now 185 kW. That means the 82 kWh battery can go from 10 to 80% in 27 minutes. Charging for just 10 minutes restores about 81 miles of range.
Audi added V2L and V2H to all of its Q4 versions, supplying up to 2.3 kW via a household socket.
Various new options are now available, particularly with the S line trims. For instance, you can add 12-inch passenger displays, dynamic interaction lighting and a new center console with two cooled inductive charging trays, each capable of 15W charging power.
The exterior gets a small tweak. The digital LED daytime running lights are customizable through the MMI. At the same time, the second-generation OLED rear lights gain optional proximity lighting that warns other road users when they get too close.
The standard Q4 e-tron with the 63 kWh battery will start at €47,500, while the quattro models will start from €55,900. Add €1,950, and you can get the Sportback version. These prices apply to the German market, but the difference across Europe will likely be negligible. Orders will open in May, while deliveries will commence during the summer.
