Porsche Macan EV inches closer to its official debut. To keep us on the edge of our seats, the German automaker has provided a sneak peek into the design of the electric vehicle.

The second-generation Macan is set to make a serious statement by going electric-only. It is a significant milestone for Porsche as it continues its journey to becoming an electric sports car manufacturer by 2030. Previously we got a glimpse of its interior and now it's time to focus on the exterior. While we didn't get actual photos, the sketches the company shared paint a pretty complete picture.

Integrating the electric powertrain into the new design presented its own set of challenges. For one the company was keen to retain the Porsche identity and for another the sizeable battery pack altered the width-to-height ratio. There's also the increased importance of aerodynamic optimization to maximize the EV's efficiency. Porsche aims for a remarkable 0.25 Cd value, not too far behind the Taycan's 0.22, despite a far less optimal body style.

Underpinning the Macan EV is the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), shared with Audi's electric models, such as the Audi A6 e-tron.

Performance enthusiasts will be pleased to hear that the range-topping Macan will boast a dual-motor setup, delivering 600 horsepower and a staggering 738 lb-ft of torque. Responsible for keeping the proverbial lights on, is the substantial 100 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

The official unveiling of the Porsche Macan EV is scheduled for Thursday, January 25. And you can bet we'll have the full coverage of anything Porsche announces on stage.
