Renault

The Renault 5 EV has been teased for more than a year now, and it's finally time for a proper introduction. That will take place at the Geneva International Motor Show on Monday, February 26 at 9:30 AM local time. The unveiling event will be streamed live at this link.

Renault still isn't giving up on the "E-Tech electric" suffix for the names of its EVs, so the official name of the car is Renault 5 E-Tech electric.

The new Renault 5 will be the first car to include Reno, which Renault describes as its "interactive avatar". There will be an area at Renault's stand at the Geneva Motor Show where visitors will be able to chat with Reno, a "new, clever and friendly travel companion brimming with character", as Renault describes it.

The stand will also have demonstrations of Renault's AmpR Small platform, the one the Renault 5 is built on, being the first model to use it, as well as the new Renault 5's motor, bidirectional charger, and "optimized battery".

There will also be a lot of Renault 5 merchandise on offer, like a Bonzini football table, a Shapers Club surfboard, a Saint James woolen jumper, and a Plume electric scooter, all of which, the implication seems to be, would complement a Renault 5 E-Tech electric purchase marvelously.

With CO2 emissions standards being very strict on cars this size, a petrol variant of this model is not on the cards. The emissions standards will get tighter in time for the larger cars too.

I believe it would be beneficial to have a petrol variant of this car.
