Tesla

The US EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has completed the testing of the new 2024 Tesla Model 3 (aka Highland) and now lists its range on its website.

The agency tested the Standard Range RWD (60 kWh) and Long Range AWD (82 kWh) models but is yet to give the Performance model (78 kWh) a go.

Both 2024 models achieved the same consumption as their predecessors - the Standard Range got a 272-mile EPA rating - the same as the 2023 model, while the Long Range received a rating of 342 miles, which is 16 miles shorter than the 2023 model. This is due to the slightly lower 130 MPGe number of the current model, compared to the 131 MPGe of its predecessor.

2024 Tesla Model 3 gets identical EPA range as its predecessor

Both 2024 models tested averaged an impressive 3.9 miles/kWh, which is something very few EVs do (the Lucid Air and Ioniq 6 can).

The EPA tested both Tesla Model 3's with 18-inch wheels. Tesla, on the other hand, provides an EPA range estimate with 19-inch wheels. They're lower by 24 miles on the RWD model (that's about 9%), and 37 miles lower on the LR AWD model (nearly 11%).

Well, I must say comparing EV and electric bike was a fun addition, it totally does not make sense to compare it, but it got a chuckle out of me.
