Aion Hyper GT's interior revealed in official images

Aion

Aion Hyper GT official images of the interior are out and what strikes us immediately is the lack of any physical buttons. There are two scroll wheels on the steering wheel and thankfully the company kept the stalls on the steering column but that is the extent of buttons for this soon-to-be-released electric car.

Aion as a company is trying to reinvent itself, it started back in 2018 as a manufacturer of affordable electric cars for the younger generation. The company originally was a sub-brand of the GAC but in 2020 became an independent company.

After a few years of average sales and average results, the management decided to aim for the high-end market with high profit margins and the company announced two new electric cars - the 1,225 hp Hyper SSR and slightly more tamed Hyper GT.

The Aion Hyper GT is marketed as a coupe although it clearly has 4 doors and small trunk opening, making it a sedan although with a coupe-like shape. The car was unveiled at the end of last year at the Guangzhou Auto Show.

The interior of Hyper GT is as striking as its aerodynamically efficient exterior. Perfect lines, no distractions and plush materials. The driver has a narrow instrument cluster sitting quite far back behind the steering wheel and there’s a central screen with a horizontal orientation.

Large panoramic roof makes the bright interior look even more spacious than it already is. The scissor front doors remind us of the XPeng P7 and they add some drama to the otherwise sleek looking car.

The Hyper GT will be initially powered by a single electric motor with 250 kW of peak output. The power is put through the rear wheels and thanks to the 430 Nm of torque, the car deals with the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 4.9 seconds. There will be a dual-motor version with 600 hp output but it will come at some point later in time.

This new addition to Aion’s family is built on the AEP 3.0 platform that supports GAC’s ADiGO Pilot. Thanks to up to three LiDAR sensors mounted on the roof, the Hyper GT will offer high-level ADAS.

The production version of the Hyper GT will be officially unveiled in April at the Shanghai Auto Show and the car is scheduled to launch to the market shortly after. It is a bold attempt from a brand known for budget friendly electric cars and it will be interesting to see how the public responds.
