Honda discontinues the Prologue

Honda

Today, Honda has confirmed that it is discontinuing the Prologue EV in the US. This follows the discontinuation of the Acura ZDX in September of last year and the cancellation of the RSX in March.

Honda discontinues the Prologue

A Honda spokesperson explained:

Honda will conclude sales of Prologue later this year following completion of the 2026 model year. Prologue customers will continue to receive full support through our dealer network, including service, parts, and warranty coverage.

Honda has sold about 80,000 Prologue EVs since its launch, while the Acura ZDX did worse.

The Prologue and the ZDX were both based on the GM Ultium platform, with GM even manufacturing the cars for Honda and its Acura brand. GM itself has moved on from Ultium, so this is not very surprising.

Three years ago, GM and Honda abandoned plans to jointly develop cheaper electric vehicles, and earlier this year they discontinued their venture that was supposed to manufacture hydrogen fuel cells. Back in May, Honda posted its first ever annual loss since 1957 and decided to give up on its electrification targets.
